Inspired by
koshka_the_cat's posts several days back, I decided to photograph some of my older vintage clothing finds. It was fun because I hadn't looked at some of them for quite a while, and with all this sewing experience now I saw them through new eyes.
I'm no expert, or even a dedicated collector, but I just can't leave these things at the antique malls and flea markets when they're really cheap!
The waist on this blouse is tiny! It won't even reach around my dress form on the smallest setting. It's made of silk and has a hole or two but it's still cute.

I'm not sure if this would be considered a "shirtwaist?"

I actually didn't buy this one. My mother gave it to me - I think she bought it at a flea market a long time ago. I love it and I can just see someone doing the Charleston in it!

My grandmother gave me this one. I'm not sure where she got it. It looks like it's been recycled from doilies and curtains.

When I bought this, I thought it was some strange kind of corset. I've since been set straight that it's a mieder, similar to the one seen here. I'm not sure how old it is, but I think it's at least as old as the one one the site above.

A blouse or camisole? One underarm has been patched.

Last but not least, my poor, abused cape. This cape was rescued from a scrap fabric bin at the garage sale of a local home decorating place. I have no idea what it was doing there. Unfortunately, half of the lace is missing.
